In an unofficial tally, Johnson received 51% of the vote to Wilson's 45% in Ohio's 6th Congressional District, which borders West Virginia. Johnson retired in 1999 from the U.S. Air Force, where he was director of the CIO staff at U.S. Special Operations Command. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Troy University and a master's degree in computer science from Georgia Tech.
