Republican CIO wins U.S. House seat in Ohio

Political newcomer Bill Johnson -- the CIO at electronics firm Stoneridge Inc. in Warren, Ohio -- was one of many Republicans to win seats in Tuesday's election for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Boucher, Fiorina and Whitman lose elections

In an unofficial tally, Johnson received 51% of the vote to Wilson's 45% in Ohio's 6th Congressional District, which borders West Virginia. Johnson's victory halted the 14-year political career of U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson (D-Ohio), who is no relation to the former Texas congressman of the same name.

Johnson retired in 1999 from the U.S. Air Force, where he was director of the CIO staff at U.S. Special Operations Command. Afterwards, he founded several IT consulting firms before joining Stoneridge as CIO in 2006. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Troy University and a master's degree in computer science from Georgia Tech.
