Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO; Tim Cook takes the reigns

Jobs was named chairman of the board, effective immediately.

Steve Jobs has resigned as the CEO of Apple and will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, Apple announced Wednesday. Jobs has been elected chairman of Apple's board, effective immediately, the company said.
