Network World - UPDATE: Google confirmed via its Nexus Google+ account Friday afternoon that it is shipping Nexus 7 for those who pre-ordered: "Locked and loaded, ready to play: we've started shipping Nexus 7 pre-orders today!"
Those who pre-ordered Google Nexus 7 tablets directly from the Google Play Store in late June are getting testy about reports that some retailers are already selling the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) tablets this week.

Google said when it introduced the much anticipated 7-inch Android tablets at its Google I/O conference during the last week of June that the Asus-designed product would ship in mid-July. Industry watchers have started playing guessing games about when the official shipment date for the latest potential iPad killer might be, with some suggesting it would be today, July 13, and others tossing out July 19 and 23. Google itself remains mum.
(If you don't have yours yet but want to vicariously share in the joy of opening a Nexus 7 box, see the video below).
Some retailers are also said to have gotten their allotment of Nexus 7 tablets in stock, and a few jumped the gun by selling tablets before Google put the kibosh on that. Customers of Ebuyer in the U.K. have posted pictures or tweeted online of devices they have received. And Android Central reported that GameStop has notified some customers who pre-ordered from the retailer to come in and get their Android tablet.
Engadget is reporting that those registering the earliest pre-orders directly through the Google Play Store actually are starting to receive their Android tablets. Though Google Play still says on its order page that the $199 devices are shipping in one to two weeks.
Those who pre-ordered from Google but have not received their devices have taken to Twitter with their displeasure.
One, dubbed "rfgenerator" tweeted: "bad move, those who preordered through the Play store are getting the N7 after retail buyers and paying shipping."
Another, nRODwetrust, tweeted: "Epic fail on #Google for leaving their preorder customers high and dry. Last time I order from the #playstore."
And "jsilland" summed up things nicely: "Just ship the damn thing already #nexus7."
