I set a few personal and professional goals for myself back in January, and the only one I've completely accomplished so far was to get Lasik vision correction surgery. Now that it's August, I better get moving quickly on the others. Someone called my attention to a Web site called MyGoals.com, and I'm hoping the service will help turn my good intentions into results.

If you're like me and a Post-It Note reminder or entry in your PalmPilot isn't enough to spur you to action on a regular basis, consider taking a tour of the site at https://www.mygoals.com/tour_01.html. The tool is designed to help people create comprehensive and effective plans for tackling all of their personal and professional goals. MyGoals.com keeps you on track by sending you e-mail reminders according to whatever frequency you choose.

Get started by either creating your own goal plan from scratch, or adopt one of the many pre-made goals from the site's library. To build your own, the service walks you through a step-by-step process that helps you identify the steps, obstacles, tasks and dates required to create an effective plan.

The pre-made goals are grouped into these broad categories: Career; Time Management & Organization; Education & Training; Family & Relationships; Health & Fitness; Personal Finance; Personal Growth & Interests; Recreation & Leisure; or Home Improvement & Real Estate. You then drill down into subcategories to find what you're looking for. Sample goals include starting your own business, going back to school, learning HTML, losing 10 pounds, and spending more time with family.

Registration is free for the first 30 days, and thereafter costs $9.95 per month. Charges are billed to your credit card and you can cancel at any time.

Let me know if you try MyGoals.com and how it works for you.
