If you work in the healthcare field, you've probably suffered a few headaches from HIPAA. The Health Care Insurance Portability & Accountability Act requires medical organizations and health care insurers to meet specific standards for the privacy and security of patient data.
The deadline for complying with the privacy legislation is in April, and there's help to get you ready. The HIPAA Academy focuses on developing and validating HIPAA knowledge through training and certification.
" HIPAA implementation teams require individuals to be knowledgeable about the HIPAA legislative requirements and solution options," said Allen Nguyen, President of the HIPAA Academy. "Our focus is on the development of HIPAA knowledge so that implementation team members can be productive.
HIPAA Academy offers different certification tracks depending on your role in a compliance team:
*HIPAA Administrator: Targeted at end users who are responsible for delivery and support of healthcare services and administration.
*Certified HIPAA Professional: Validates knowledge and skills in the core areas of HIPAA administrative simplification legislation, transactions and code sets requirements, privacy requirements and security requirements.
*Certified HIPAA Security Specialist: Validates knowledge, skills sets and security solution applications in administrative procedures, physical safeguards, technical security services, technical security mechanisms and electronic signatures.
The HIPAA Academy provides training through a variety of partners, and recently selected MeasureUp to provide certification preparation tests. MeasureUp's preparation tests give detailed explanations, complete coverage of exam objectives, customized study and review, and detailed scoring.
