Steve Taylor and Larry Hettick offer news and analysis on the latest in IP convergence from fixed-mobile convergence, presence management, IP video and unified communications.
CounterPath, a provider of desktop and mobile VoIP software products and solutions, has announced that Genesys, a large contact center software supplier and Alcatel-Lucent company, will integrate CounterPath's Software Development Kit into its Agent Desktop product suite to bring VoIP communications technology to Genesys' global call center customers.
The integration of CounterPath's C++ Edition SDK is being offered to create Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) endpoint connection functionality. The SIP endpoint connection is designed to make it easier for Genesys customers to use VoIP services in their call centers. Genesys developers, including an ecosystem of third-party developers, can use the SDK to customize and deploy their own applications, taking advantage of the new SIP connectivity.
In a statement, Robert Brown, vice president of marketing for CounterPath said: "Call centers are primarily focused on two things: delivering excellence in customer satisfaction and improving operational efficiencies. The combined solution of Genesys' call center software and CounterPath's SDK empowers call center managers to leverage innovative VoIP technologies."
In an unrelated request, one of our newsletter subscribers is investigating video phone services. In particular, he is looking at various options that use a stand-alone IP desktop phone, that use the Internet for connectivity, and do not charge monthly fees. We're aware of Skype Video and IPdarshan's Video Phone service but if you know of other similar options or if you have used Skype Video of IPdarshan in an enterprise setting, please drop Larry a note about your experiences. We'll share the collective feedback in a future newsletter. You can reach Larry via e-mail by clicking on his highlighted name at the top of this article.
