Network World - With both Interop in Las Vegas and CTIA Wireless in New Orleans underway this week, the news inbox is getting full but today we'll start with four announcements from ShoreTel. ShoreTel has introduced new collaboration tools, a new remote monitoring service, a new M5 Portal for cloud customers, and a new bundle with a promotional incentive that includes elements from ShoreTel, Polycom and HP solutions.
With its first announcement, ShoreTel unveiled new collaboration applications designed to meet the increasing demands of large enterprise customers; according to the company it is being increasingly selected by large global enterprises that need collaboration. The ShoreTel 12.3 supports 10,000 concurrent instant messaging clients, 1,000 audio conferencing ports and 500 Web conferencing ports.

In its second news item, the company has announced "ShoreTel Remote Monitoring" as an around-the-clock service, proactively monitoring ShoreTel IP PBX products deployed on a customer's premise. According to a statement from Don Joos, VP of global services at ShoreTel, "system events and notifications can provide information for action before an end user experiences any problem. With this service it is possible to fix issues before they are even noticed." Remote Monitoring will be available for ordering by the end of the month.
In a separate initiative, ShoreTel has released the M5 Portal, designed to offer an enhanced customer administrative tool and business intelligence interface for its cloud phone system. M5 Portal will be free to all existing M5 customers. The portal gives individual users the access to set preferences such as personal call routing or manage voicemail. For managers, the M5 Portal provides access to business activities such as sales performance, service levels and staffing efficiency.
And in a fourth announcement ShoreTel, Polycom and HP Solutions have partnered to provide a promotional incentive for bundled offerings that include elements of each company's unified communications solutions. The offering includes on-premise, cloud and mobility solutions from ShoreTel, HP Networking solutions, and Polycom video and voice solutions.
