Network World - We have two updates on cloud-based services today. The first news comes from Votela, a provider of enterprise unified communications as a service (UCaaS), as it unveils a platform to support value-added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs) seeking to roll out their own cloud communications services. The second announcement comes from Brother International Corporation, the traditional business hardware supplier: The company is now branching out with its own cloud-based services starting with a videoconferencing service.

Votela has launched its Votela Cloud Provider offer (VCP) in support of VARs and managed service providers MSPs rolling out cloud communications. And while the platform is provided by Votela, solutions providers maintain full control of their subscribers and customers. Votela is both a carrier and distributor for Siemens OpenScape Cloud Services in North America, offering on-demand solutions communications in the cloud.
In other news, Brother International Corporation has launched its OmniJoin Web and videoconferencing service. The new cloud-based system provides HD quality audio and video. Collaboration features are also included so participants can interact with and edit documents in real time, then save the marked-up files for future reference.
OmniJoin Online Meetings Web conferencing is available in a variety of plans, starting with a hosted version priced at $49 per month that allows up to 30 meeting attendees; the "Pro" supports more attendees at $79 per month; and customizable packages are available for larger organizations.
OmniJoin Web conferencing is the company's first such major service offering, but plans also call for will variety of scanning and workflow solutions in the company's Brother Online suite that are designed to complement and expand the value of Brother scanners, printers and multi-function devices.
