This week, I'm taking some quick peeks at the identity management announcements that came out of RSA Conference 2006 last week. Here are a few more that could be of interest to you:

Quest Software, best known for its Active Directory related services and tools, introduced Quest Compliance Portal, an integrated Web portal to enable IT and business users to securely and remotely access compliance-related information.

The Compliance Portal lets business decision-makers and auditors see at a glance how an organization's IT department is meeting the requirements imposed by specific areas of regulatory legislation. Data generated by products within the Quest Compliance Suite for Windows is automatically gathered and compiled into reports that are viewable in real time via the portal. Regulation-specific report packs, which include support for COBIT, FISMA, HIPAA, ITIL, Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley, are available to allow evaluation of compliance details important to each specific standard and regulation. The portal could be a real boon for the Windows platform.

A10 Networks, which is attempting to provide high-value, low-price identity-aware network products, announced new features for its identity and access management (IAM) appliance, IDSentrie 1000. A10 Networks also released an API to its development partners in an attempt to drive creation of affordable, open IAM products across a variety of applications such as wireless networking, electronic risk management and compliance reporting and auditing. Ping Identity announced that PingTrust v1.0 is now available for free download. Previously called PingSTS, PingTrust is a WS-Trust Security Token Service that creates, validates and exchanges security tokens to identity-enable Web services and to extend federated single sign-on to incorporate Web services. If federation and/or the identity metasystem are part of your duties then this is something you need.

Oracle announced Oracle Identity Management 10g Release 3, which includes enhanced provisioning functionality that should enable organizations to implement sustainable compliance policies and controls that help reduce costs, lower risk and improve enterprise-wide visibility of compliance controls. The release includes updated features, expanded hot-pluggable and manageability capabilities, and tighter integration across the entire family of Oracle IAM products. That is, all of those acquisitions Oracle has made are now tied together more tightly. It might not yet be fully integrated, but it is very close. Details at the Oracle Web site will show you how far Oracle has come in identity management in a very short time.
