The foundation for security and enterprise management
I've often said to myself that I need to compile a list of links to all things Identity on the Web. Now I don't have to.
I've known Matt Flynn since back in the day when he was with MaXware, the Norway-based provisioning company, which was acquired by SAP in 2007. Flynn then joined RSA (the nonsecure Security Division of EMC) and then moved on to become director of marketing and strategy at NetVision, the Utah company that's been heavily involved in directories and governance for more than 15 years and a regular feature of this newsletter for at least a dozen years (see "New tool quickly creates apps that enable users to interact with NDS").
BACKGROUND: Why SAP purchased MaXware
Matt had that same idea -- a list of links of all things Identity -- but the difference is that he's finally compiled it and posted an identity links page to his personal website.
Here Flynn has listed blogs, periodicals, standards bodies, software vendors, service vendors and analysts in an easy-to-follow listing. Not only can't I find anything that's missing, but I do find a few names I hadn't known before! Flynn does request that if you know of any changes or additions you should let him know through his contact page.
One feature I especially like is that companies that have been acquired are still listed, but as a sub-listing of their acquiring company, like this:
CA
- Netegrity
- Business Layers
- Eurikify
- IDFocus
- Orchestria
- Arcot
That's a big help to me because I often remember what some company did eight or 10 years ago, but not who acquired it.
Bookmark this page so that you'll have easy access when an IdM question pops up. And, as a thank-you to Matt, take a look at NetVision's current offerings in the area of access rights reporting and monitoring -- it might be just what you need.
