The foundation for security and enterprise management
It was just over 12 years ago I wrote: "Welcome to the first Directory Services newsletter from Network World," and today we've reached the penultimate issue. Time flies when you're having fun. And it has been fun, for the most part, as the Directory Services newsletter matured into the Identity Management newsletter ultimately becoming part of the Security arena.
I had been thinking of using this issue to thank everyone who helped me along the way. I'd thought that until I started reading through all of the issues to identify everyone. That's when I realized I'd need much more than one issue to name everybody.
So I'll just broadly thank the many editors I've worked with over the years, most of whom have moved on to other things -- successfully, I do believe. Then there's the legion of PR and marketing folks who had the unenviable job of trying to entice me to write about their clients and/or companies -- some of them are true rock stars. Then there's the long line of CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, VPs in every division of the enterprise, engineers, salespeople, even the occasional CFO who spent time with me trying to help me understand what it is they do to bring better IdM to the world.
Mostly, though, I want to thank you -- the readers of this biweekly scrivening. Not only for being a faithful reader but also for your many thoughts and comments in email and on the Network World website. It sometimes seemed as though I was getting more story ideas from readers than from flacks and flackettes!
For those who wish to continue to follow my ravings words of wisdom, there'll be links on the Journal of IdM homepage as well as on my Twitter feed. I will spend more time on my Kuppinger-Cole blog, I promise. Finally, I'll be increasing my participation in webinars and conferences (follow the Events pages at both the IdM Journal and Kuppinger-Cole for details).
There's one more issue to come -- you won't want to miss it. Print it out, stop me at a conference and get me to autograph it -- it's sure to become a collector's item!
