If you are interested in really high-speed LANs, there are a few Web sites you should know about that focus on 10-Gigabit Ethernet.
The "10 Gigabit Ethernet Resource Site" is managed by Technical Essence Webs. This has a lot of information about the technology, the market, and the vendors and component makers involved. If you want to start up a company focused on this technology, this is the place to go, since it has a discussion area for start-ups and a venture capital database. It even has links to articles about 10-Gigabit Ethernet, including issues of this very newsletter.
Just as there was a Gigabit Ethernet Alliance, there is the 10-Gigabit Ethernet Alliance. The group's Web site is currently pretty sparse, but it does have a handy FAQ.
Check out the IEEE 10-Gigabit task force (IEEE 802.3ae) to keep up with the latest standards progress.
