Extreme Networks once again is figuring prominently at the Interop trade show, with demonstrations, participation in the CSO Boot Camp, and implementation of the show's backbone network.

The show takes place next week in Las Vegas. Go here for Network World's guide to the show, go here for my picks out of those picks, or go here for Ann Bednarz's picks for network optimization.

Extreme has had a tradition of providing equipment for Interop's backbone network, called InteropNet. Last year, its focus was on security. This year, Extreme's BlackDiamond modular switches, Summit X450 and X250 fixed switches, and the Sentriant threat mitigation appliance will provide the bandwidth and security for the show.

Extreme co-founder Herb Schneider, who is also senior vice president of R&D, is participating in the CSO Boot Camp. His presentation on Monday is "Service Oriented Networked Applications to Deliver a Secure Network." Meanwhile, Nick Suizo, director of software and network management, is participating in an SOA panel called "XML Gateways, Addressing the Security and Performance on the Network," which takes place on Tuesday.

Extreme engineers recently joined engineers from Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft, Enterasys, HP and others to prepare for the InteropLabs, or iLabs, which is the experimental portion of the show network. You can get an inside look at what happened here.

At its booth, Extreme will be demonstrating networking, security, convergence and wireless LAN technologies.
