The Rev gets Novell execs blogging

Back in February ("Novell's 'Rev' reaches out further to his flock"), I told you about Ted Haeger's plans to involve more Novell people in the wider user community.

Google OS could put squeeze on other flavors of Linux
07/09/09
Much of the discussion around Google's new PC operating system has focused on a looming battle with Windows, but the biggest losers could be other Linux OSes that have been enjoying some moderate success on netbooks, industry analysts said.

Cyber attack in South Korea set to resume, says AhnLab
07/09/09
A denial of service attack that took down some of South Korea's highest profile Web sites on Wednesday is set to resume Thursday evening, according to computer security specialist AhnLab.

Initially this was to be a series of podcasts - a series that's still going strong, with interesting content. But Haeger also wanted to get Novell's various product managers (and other product gurus) involved by writing their own blogs. He suggested that ZENworks experts Martin Buckley, Jason Blacket and Mark Schouls could start and then he'd see where that might lead. Where it's led is to two-dozen or so Novell bloggers who - some regularly, some sporadically - post their thoughts, projects, and feelings to the Cool Blogs Web site. Those who have participated include:

* Alex Evans
* Bill Pray
* Bill Street
* David Mair
* Doug Clower
* Erin Quill
* Jason Williams
* Justin Taylor
* Ken Muir
* Laurence Pitt
* Mark Schouls
* Martin Buckley
* Richard Jones
* Robert Wipfel
* Ron Tanner
* Ron van Herk
* Shaun Pond
* Shon Vella
* Steven Weitzeil
* Ted Haeger
* Ty Ellis
* Volker Scheuber

Some of these folks I know, and you will too (Hi Shaun!), while others will be new to you, new to me or new to us both. But in any case, what they have to say will be interesting and may be useful.

Also available, and possibly of interest to you, are two blogs from Novell senior executives: Chief Marketing Officer John Dragoon, and CTO Jeff Jaffe.

There have also been some new additions to the Novell Support Forums home page, linking not only to these Novell blogs but also to other, third-party blogs and wikis which might be of interest to those who make their living through the care and feeding of Novell products.

When you read the general press, even the mainstream technology press, you might often be driven to think that you're the only one still running NetWare (or GroupWise, ZENworks, etc.). Tools like these that Ted Haeger is striving to set up really help you realize that you are not alone. Use them.
