Perth, Australia's NDG Software grew out of a computing project (the Netman Development Group) begun in 1991 at Curtin University of Technology. Today, the company's NetBoy suite is one of the most praised network monitoring suites on the world market.

Included in NetBoy are:

  • EtherBoy - a visual real-time network monitoring and management utility for Windows NT that features a highly intuitive display. EtherBoy understands and can track a variety of protocols including TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk, NetBIOS and DECnet. It also provides a protocol definition language to aid in supporting and adding new or custom protocols.

  • GeoBoy - a 3D geographical tracing tool capable of tracing and displaying routes taken by all traffic transversing the Internet. GeoBoy also recognizes the new standard, RFC1876, which allows ISPs to add geographical information in the server's DNS. GeoBoy's unique graphical display allows the user to locate Internet delays and traffic congestion.

  • PacketBoy - a Windows 95/NT packet analyzer/decoder package capable of decoding many of the commonly used LAN protocols, including TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk, BanyanIP and DECnet protocol suites. Multiple captures can be viewed concurrently, and packet traces can be loaded and saved to disk.

  • WebBoy (my personal favorite) - a unique visual real-time Internet/intranet monitoring and management utility for Windows 95 and NT. WebBoy features a highly intuitive display, which provides real-time statistics on standard Web traffic, including URLs accessed, cache hit ratios, Internet and custom-defined protocols. In addition, WebBoy features a configurable alarm to monitor unusual or unauthorized usage - sort of a burglar alarm for your network.
