Arsenal Digital last week introduced data protection services it claims reduces disaster recovery time from weeks to days.
The company rolled out two new services – ViaRemot RapidProtect and RapidRecover – for small, midsize and enterprise businesses. ViaRemote RapidProtect is an on-site protection service for server environments that ensures businesses can recover from disasters in as little as 72 hours. ViaRemote RapidRecover allows the recovery of lost data for individual servers and entire sites. With RapidRecover, data can be restored to the original location or to a separate disaster recovery site.
The company’s ViaRemote family of services provide daily backups for servers and PCs to a remote location and restoration of data over the network. Customers can restore their own data via a Web-based interface and multiple point-in-time copies can be made. Data being backed up is de-duplicated, compressed and encrypted.
In RapidProtect, the IT administrator backs up data to a RapidProtect appliance locally. The data is then moved to a secure data center under Arsenal’s control.
In the RapidRecover service, an Arsenal specialist copies the data a customer wants to recover to a RapidRecover device. The specialist delivers it to the customer location, where he initiates the recovery across the LAN.
The company also enhanced its data protection product for PCs. ViaRemote for PCs now includes a simplified installation and setup, improved backup functionality and enhanced IT policies.
Arsenal’s services compete with those from Iron Mountain, EVault and MessageOne.
Arsenal ViaRemote RapidProtect and RapidRecover are available immediately. Pricing is based on the amount of data backed up. For RapidProtect, a business is charged $1,500 per terabyte per location. RapidRecover is $2,500 per terabyte.
