Storage analyst Deni Connor focuses on storage, application and infrastructure management in this twice-weekly newsletter.
EMC this week acquired Voyence in a brilliant move intended to broaden the company’s impact on managing the server, storage and network infrastructure.
Voyence, which specializes in change management, is at the intersection of cross-domain management and the effect that changes to network devices or applications make on the infrastructure.
Still independent are two other companies focused on storage change management – Akorri and Onaro – both should be acquisition targets for companies, like HP or IBM, interested in broadening their storage management portfolios. Network World has covered both of these companies before. We’ve been impressed by their offerings and approach to cross-domain management.
EMC will add Voyence’s VoyenceControl to its Resource Management Software Group and also integrate it with its Smarts and ControlCenter technologies. VoyenceControl is network change management software that lets customers increase security, improve security and demonstrate regulatory compliance. It can be integrated into Smarts to help customers identify misconfiguration issues.
Voyence was founded in 2000 as Power Up Networks, a company router deployment software. The company has 78 employees and claims 100 customers.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
