Developments of the week in storage
C2C last week rolled out a version of its e-mail archiving software that supports compliance and policy management capabilities. Archive One now can assist customers with corporate governance and conformance to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, also known as e-discovery.
Archive One also now supports the Creative Common’s licensed OpenSearch 1.1 specification and Microsoft Search Server 2008.
Archive One lets administrators to identify and secure data that is subject to internal or external legal requirements. The enhancements to the software allow companies to identify the e-mails that relate to each complaint or investigation and ensure they will not be deleted before the issue is resolved.
The software automatically or manually places items into a ‘legal hold’ state. Items may have multiple holds attached to it and reviewer’s notes can also be associated with them.
Archive One also incorporates a federate search connector that integrates with Microsoft Search Server, SharePoint MOSS 2007, Internet Explorer ‘custom search providers’ and OpenSearch V1.1.
Archive One 5.4 is expected to be available in March starting at $20 per mailbox.
In other news, Fios announced an assessment service that helps IT and legal counsel understand how existing and new technologies can be used for e-discovery. The Fios e-Discovery Technology Assessment analyzes existing and prospective technologies to see how well they address the phases of discovery – identification, data culling, document review and production.
Fios’ consultants work with legal counsel and IT managers in a four-step process that includes needs assessment, analysis of current practices, gap analysis and recommendations.
