Emulex last week introduced a variety of new tools to manage converged and Fibre Channel networks.

The company announced OneCommand, a centralized management platform for its OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters and its LightPulse Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. The framework provides a single console from which IT managers can deploy, provision and manage assets on the network. In addition connectivity, security and QoS capability are included.

The OneCommand Management Framework simplifies I/O management by making it fast to deploy and manage I/O services. It consolidates the management of SAN and LAN discovery of devices and provides provisioning tools that let IT managers monitor and report on not only physical, but virtual machines. OneCommand provides encryption, data integrity and authentication of servers to the fabric, as well as automating I/O services.

OneCommand is a follow-on product to Emulex’s HBAnyware, which manages Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) ports.

Emulex also announced OneConnect, an ASIC-based technology for its Universal Converged Network Adapters. OneConnect supports 10Gbps Ethernet and is designed to lower CAPEX, while maximizing blade consolidation. OneConnect supports TCP/IP, iSCSI, NAS and FCoE. According to company claims, OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters can save as much as 28% on switches, adapters and rack space, 42% on power and cooling and 80% on cabling.

The company also announced a host-based security technology that encrypts data in-flight and at-rest and provides access controls. Emulex Secure HBA technology can be deployed without upgrading storage systems or buying separate encryption appliances.
