Mimosa Systems this week announced Version 4.0 of its NearPoint content archiving system, which includes capture, de-duplication, data protection, full-text indexing, data retention and mailbox management for Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint and Windows file servers, desktops and laptop computers.

NearPoint is able to capture and archive information stored on SAN, NAS, direct-attached storage, WORM, content-addressable storage, remote disks and tape. It allows eDiscovery across e-mail, file systems and SharePoint content and adds case management functionality and search automation. In addition it supports Microsoft Volume Shadowcopy Service (VSS) and MAPI plus journaling.

In eDiscovery, NearPoint is able to find e-mail, files and SharePoint content in a single search, which can be of Boolean or proximity in nature. Delegated administrators can use workflow to assign search results to review teams, tag objects between cases and create scheduled searches to automatically populate cases with new content. Search permissions can be set up for NearPoint grids and asynchronously populated. The results of a search can be exported by grid.

In addition, NearPoint 4.0 has a unified interface for both e-mail and file system content, which allows searching and browsing and a cache that contains messages and attachments. The administrator can create content policies based on cache size or age and searches are integrated with Outlook Search.

NearPoint 4.0 is available now.
