HP this week announced enhancements to its small and midsize business storage that include a new specification for IT implementation and two new storage arrays.

HP expands virtual storage offerings

The HP Total Care Business Risk Mitigation offering provides customizable configurations of server, storage, networking and security products, which can help SMBs to reduce system downtime by as much as 85%, according to HP's claims.

The HP StorageWOrks X500 Data Vault lets SMBs connect as many as 10 PC or Mac clients to share files. It is priced starting at $699.

The HP StorageWorks X3000 Network Storage Systems High Availability Bundles are a combined hardware/software package that are based on the HP X3000 Network Storage Gateways and the HP StorageWorks MSA2000 G2 storage arrays. The new bundles eliminate duplicate files and protect against drive failures. The bundles include an HP StorageWorks X3000 gateway, an HP StorageWorks MSA2000 array, a host bus adapter and cables. The bundles provide file-level deduplication and RAID 6 protection against drive failures. The bundles also support iSCSI and print server capability. They also offer Fibre Channel or Serial Attached SCSI capability. Bundles include the X500, X1000 and X3000.

The HP StorageWorks X3000 Network Storage Systems HA Bundles are currently available starting at $9,999. The Risk Mitigation kit starts at $34,000 for 300 users. The X3410 starts at $10,000.
