Developments of the week in storage
This newsletter is bittersweet. Network World is retiring some of its newsletter at the end of this month. That means that I'll too be leaving a newsletter I've been writing for over seven years. But that's not the end of storage for me.
I'm currently writing about storage for three sites: www.storagebytesnow.com, www.businessagility.com and www.informationweek.com
Writing and blogging for Internet sites and trade publications is not all of my day job. I'll still be working at Storage Strategies NOW, producing reports on storage technologies. In the past year we've done reports on Data Protection and Recovery in the SMB, Cloud Storage and Solid State and High-Speed Memory. We are also working on two new reports - an updated Data Protection and Recovery in the SMB and a report on Data Reduction: Deduplication and Compression. And, we've done commissioned reporting for various vendors such as HP 3PAR and storage startups Avere, Nirvanix and FlashSoft.
The Storage Alert Newsletter will probably remain - aggregating storage content from Network World and other IDG sites such as ComputerWorld, InfoWorld, CIO and the IDG News Service.
If you've contacted me in the past, you'll remember that my email is dconnor@ssg-now.com. If you have news about storage, virtualization (both servers and VDI) or servers, let me know. If you just want to chat about storage, give me a call at (512) 345-3850. After all, us in the storage world have to keep in touch. Bye for now.
