A new study on who will be buying virtual private networking gear and services will give you an idea of how your plans fit in with the rest of the worlds.
According to the Infonetics Research study, which was based on interviews with 225 corporate users, the total market for VPN equipment and services will jump from $2.4 billion this year to just over $32 billion by 2003.
Here is how planned use of VPNs by 2001 breaks down:
- 85% say they will use VPNs for remote access.
- 78% say they will set up VPNs between corporate sites.
- 58% say they will communicate with business partners via VPN.
Obviously, many users plan to employ more than one form of VPN.
