How Secure is Your Wireless Network?
Ellen Messmer writes: Author Lee Barken takes on the difficult and fast-moving assignment of describing the options for securing wireless LAN (WLAN) networks. In that he does an admirable job, delving in to the alphabet soup of WEP, 802.1x, EAP-PEAP, EAP-TLS, VPN and RADIUS that comprises WLAN security today. By necessity, he is forced to note that as of the time of writing some technologies, such as PEAP, weren't in certain Microsoft products but are anticipated. Despite the dizzying pace of technical and commercial development in this field at present, the book succeeds in pin-pointing security basics every manager operating a WLAN should know.
