Next week, my colleague Kevin Tolly and I head out for Network World's State of the LAN/WAN Town Meeting. It seems like yesterday that we wrapped the last tour, but a lot has changed since then.

Those changes are reflected in the list of sponsors we'll have with us on this six-city tour and the topics we'll be covering. For instance, the last tour focused heavily on voice over IP and quality-of-service issues. This time out, we turn our attention to wireless technologies and 10G Ethernet, as well as security -- all of which are weighing heavily on the minds of IT professionals.

Joining us for this series of free one-day seminars, will be Cisco, Enterasys, Extreme, Foundry and Riverstone. Representatives from each company will give attendees a look at various aspects of emerging LAN/MAN technologies, as well as insights into their individual product strategies.

Consider this homework. In preparation for this tour, I've put together a list of educational resources for getting up to speed on the latest wireless technologies and 10G Ethernet information. *HomeRF
This organization promotes a competing standard, HomeRF, which will target small office/home office users.

*The home wireless debate
Network World recently hosted an online face-off between backers of the Wi-Fi and HomeRF standards. See what they had to say and what your peers responded with.

*Wireless in the Enterprise newsletter
Twice a week, wireless expert Joanie Wexler looks at the leading issues in the market. From new products to integration issues, she gives you the information you need to make informed decisions.

*Mobile Networking newsletter
Keith Shaw is the king of gadgets, especially those of the wireless kind. Twice a week, he gives you insight into how the hottest products on the market can benefit your company, as well as an overview of the latest technology and trends.

*3G Wireless Research
Our online researcher Elaine Valovic combed the Web to put together this comprehensive page of 3G resources. She presents the arguments for fixed and mobile wireless with tutorials, articles and more.
