Mitchell Ashley talks with interesting people about interesting topics in the world of Microsoft.

In part 2 of my interview with Savvis CTO Bryan Doerr we jump into the implications of the economy and how the impact helps or hurts enterprise IT, SaaS ISVs, and SaaS providers like Savvis. (19:45)
Hosting providres like Savvis obviously have a lot of sunk cost in data center space, power, cooling, and networks, so they’d like to put those assets to work selling services to customers. Startups and ISVs are being advised to conserve cash and already have a propensity to seek hosted services for their SaaS offerings. IT organizations may also consider new hosting solutions rather than spend their capital on building and expanding their data center. Byran and I also touch on some of the upcoming Microsoft PDC conference cloud announcements.
