WAN optimization technologies have exploded onto the network industry scene. The products, which speed applications over wide-area links to remote workers and branch offices, address a big pain point for IT managers. But as the technologies mature they will have do to more than solve simple problems. Enterprise IT managers want the technologies to become more sophisticated in several ways. Robert Whiteley, a senior analyst with Forrester Research, and Zeus Kerravala, senior vice president of enterprise research at Yankee Group, weigh in on what to expect from WAN optimization technologies in the coming months.
