Automation is a term that has been bandied about the network industry for many years. But in the past few years, a new breed of automation technology has emerged. Some call it data center automation and one vendor in particular has made its name delivering exactly that. Opsware started with server automation tools, expanded to include network automation technology, acquired an IT process automation start-up and recently it introduced its first storage automation product. With HP bidding $1.6 billion on the company in an acquisition set to close any day now, Opsware senior vice president of server automation products, Jason Rosenthal, talks about how Opsware envisions data center automation now that the company is poised to become part of one of the industry's powerhouse players.
