When it comes to information security, Spafford’s opinion is much coveted. He’s a widely sought out authority figure on matters as diverse as privacy and de-perimeterization. This year, for example, Congress solicited his testimony regarding the Veterans’ Affairs data breach debacle. His two cents: The data breach shows that the VA faces a matter of policy, not technology.
