DEMO 2004 Ignites Technology Industry
New Products Promise Streamlined Businesses and Secure Communications

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – February 16, 2004 – The 14th annual DEMO conference opened today with a focus on liberated desktop computing, rich blogging products, and technologies that give the entrenched status quo a run for its money. DEMO 2004 is the launch venue for 67 new products and services, many of which are still in development, representing innovations from a broad spectrum of the tech industry. Executive Producer Chris Shipley began the conference with a summary of technology activity since DEMO 2003 and a looking glass into the twelve months ahead, noting that the technology market is on the next wave of exciting innovations.

"DEMO has always been about evaluating the building blocks of next-generation computing. This year's class of demonstrators represent component technologies, software applications and hardware appliances that will transform the way we live and work," said Chris Shipley, DEMO executive producer. "There are ideas, designs, services, and components at DEMO that enable new products, new work styles, and new business opportunities."

The conference kicked off with product demonstrations designed to free workers from the constrictions of the office desktop.
· KeyComputing/Seaside Software, a collaboration of two Israeli companies, introduced Xkey, a USB plug-in that transforms any PC into a secure, personal workstation. Xkey fits in a pocket, but contains all the technology required to work on emails and documents at any PC without leaving a trace behind.
· Good Technology demonstrated GoodLink, a wireless messaging and application access system that provides mobile field forces with a two-way wirelessly-synchronized connection to Microsoft Exchange Server and other critical applications like CRM, ERP and SCM.
· Vulcan Inc. debuted the Vulcan FlipStart, a promising alternative to both laptops and PDAs designed to be always connected, small enough to take everywhere and convenient enough to use sitting, standing and on-the-go.

Shipley identified Web logs as having the potential to fundamentally change the face of publishing, corporate communications, customer marketing, workgroup collaboration, and more. A spirited panel made up by John Patrick of Attitude LLC, Buzz Bruggeman of Active Words Inc., and Robert Scoble of Microsoft Corp. debated the advantages and consequences of a blog nation. Demonstrations of new blogging technologies came from Six Apart, Feedster, WaveMarket, Oddpost, and SilkRoad.

For the first time in its 14-year history, DEMO welcomed a Chinese demonstrator to its prestigious ranks. Evermore Software from China's Jiangsu Province introduced a single application challenger to Microsoft's ubiquitous Office suite. EIOffice combines the features and functionality of a word processor application with a spreadsheet and business graphics application into one, streamlined product.

Monday's afternoon session focused on the enterprise problems, solutions, and business opportunities still to be met. "At DEMO this year, we see technology that allows enterprise IT organizations to become more manageable, dynamic, and responsive to the rapidly changing, organic global business. We're also seeing products that liberate IT from the tedium of application integration, system management, and reactive security," said Shipley.

Breakthrough enterprise product demonstrations were made by:
· Symbol Technologies – The WS 2000 Wireless Switch is a single system with all the security, management, and networking technology necessary to create enterprise-class Ethernet and Wi-Fi wireless infrastructures for SMEs.
· Above All Software – Above All Studio enables just-in-time assembly of composite applications, which will enable companies to reuse and repurpose their technology investments and rapidly respond to changing business needs.
· Memento – Memento Software Suite enables CIOs and their Line of Business customers to measure and monitor the ongoing business value of their enterprise applications.
· Pantero – The Pantero SDS Suite automates much of the costly and unnecessary manual development behind enterprise application integration projects.

Security was also a major theme of the conference, highlighted with products that secure email and IM communications, Web applications, and document access and delivery. Adobe Systems' enterprise document control technology ensures that only intended recipients can open a protected document and enables the author to expire and revoke documents. TurnTide Inc.'s anti-spam router stops spam at the spammer's servers, forcing spammers to eventually abandon their attacks because they are slow and unprofitable. Imperva Inc., founded by firewall inventor Shlomo Kramer, introduced SecureSphere, which tracks and correlates malicious user activity over time to accurately separate actual attacks from harmless anomalies.
