World Searches for "Network IT Entrepreneur"
April 19, 2004 Southborough, MA Network World, Inc., the leading network media company, today announced, "Who Wants to Be an Entrepreneur?", a contest aimed at network IT professionals. Developed by Network World in conjunction with Commonwealth Capital, a venture capital firm in Wellesley, Mass., the contest is sponsored by Qwest Communications, famaPR of Cambridge, Mass., and the law firm of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP.
"The idea behind the contest is to reach the professionals that work with technology and see the need firsthand for new products and services," said Bob Brown, Network World executive editor of news and creator of the contest. The criteria for selecting a winner will be based on originality, value and relevance to the network IT industry.
Readers will have four weeks to work up their ideas for submission by May 17 to a panel of seven judges that includes North Bridge Venture Partners, Sigma Partners, GoldWire Technology, Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, Commonwealth Capital, and Network World.
Three to five finalists will present their ideas to the judges in a live format and Network World will award one contestant the title of "Network IT Entrepreneur" on June 21. The winner will receive a cache of prizes ranging from exposure with a venture capital firm, $30,000 in cash and paid-in-kind professional services, coverage in Network World and on Network World Fusion (www.nwfusion.com), and the opportunity to rub elbows with other entrepreneurs at Network World's DEMO conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.
