Network World Gives Cell Phone Users a New Way to Obtain Information
Readers to Access Web Content by Scanning Codes in Magazine

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. – July 30, 2007 – Network World has become one of the first US publications to include barcodes in print that act as a gateway to wireless online content. When scanned with a common cell phone camera, the codes instantly launch the user into an online experience as if he had clicked on a link.

Network World has selected Nextcode Corporation for the cell phone to magazine link. By downloading a small application of Nextcode’s ConnexTo technology to a phone, a reader can scan the barcode and receive related information each week.

“As Network World expands the contacts with its audience; we need to constantly work to enrich our relationship with both advertisers and readers.” said Dan Gallagher, VP of Audience & Architecture at Network World. “Cell phone code scanning enables our readers to bridge the offline and online worlds as they access news and information in the palm of their hands.”

This is the beginning of taking advantage of the cell phone as a device to bring the offline and online worlds together. “The next steps will be to place codes in advertisements and stories within the magazine enabling users to get more specific information from the advertiser or more information on a certain topic.” said Evilee Ebb, CEO & publisher, Network World.
