These are methods used by spammers to avoid detection:
Frequently changing IP addresses.
Using different ISPs.
Sending smaller batches and single sends to avoid detection.
Using tools to locate open third-party relays - a mail server open to process e-mail from unauthorized servers, where the sender and receiver are not local users.
Using the Camouflage program to hide files for passing through filters undetected.
HTML messages with Java script-encrypted frame tags that launch body text after by-passing filters.
Non-working or deceptive opt-out links that serve to verify active e-mail addresses.
Using a Sendmail server, telnet or netcat utility to connect to an SMTP port where the SMTP exchange commands or e-mail header information are falsified/spoofed including the sender's e-mail address and even server received: lines.
Sending spam from the recipient to the recipient.
Adding randomness to each message by adding/deleting characters and spaces in subject and body text.
Building in hops via proxy servers and open relays to make it hard to track the origin.
