Remote Access Server RFP for Abbig Corporation

General

The following proposal is submitted to Abbig Corporation for a remote access server (RAS) solution for the central side of the Abbig corporate network. The proposed system will provide remote access to 20% of Abbig Corporation's 30,000 employees to work remotely either part time or full time. Where ever possible the proposed system incorporates fault tolerance and security to ensure unauthorized users are not allowed into the network. Management of the system can be centrally established or via IP network anywhere in the world. This added flexibility adds to the proposed system's value and scalability while still network managers with a full set of usage statistics.

Product Recommendations

The Multi-Tech hardware recommendations are for the central site to include a minimum of two CommPlete Communications Servers (Model CC9600s) with all four segments loaded with loaded with ISDN-PRI in each segment. A CommPlete Communications Server equipped with four PRI segments can handle 92 concurrent callers. Each branch office would require one CommPlete Communications Server with all four segments loaded with ISDN-PRI in each segment. This equipment estimate is based on the following:
Branch Offices
10 exec. 5-8 lines ( excessive) for one hour a day, but ...
250 tele at 1 hr per day divide by 8 = 31 lines
240 mobile 2 hr per day divide by 4= 60 lines
total 98 lines ISDN CommPlete 92 lines

Central Office
200 exec divide by 2 = 50
500 tele 1 hr divide by 8 = 62
300 mobile divide by 4 = 75
about 187 lines two CommPletes 184 the exec should really divide by 8 which would be 25 lines

This equipment estimate is for an averaged 8 hour day and not on peak if every one calls at once. This equipment estimate does not include redundancy. By doubling the equipment at each location, redundancy is achieved along with the ability to accommodate peak call-in hours and allows for upward scalability.

Equipment Costs

Central Site with two CommPlete Communications Servers with 4 PRI segments and 92 call-in lines - $85,490
Redundant systems - $85,490

Branch office site with one CommPlete Communication Server with 4 PRI segments and 92 call-in lines - $42,745
Redundant system - $42,745
