Response to load-balancer RFP: WebSpective

Today's breaking news
Send to a friendFeedback

WebSpective Software, Inc.'s Content Distribution 3.0 can solve Acme's current performance problems and solution requirements as they relate to content updates.

Problem - "It is also very time consuming for the MIS personnel to keep all of the servers updated with the latest HTML code and this results in error when a server misses an update."

WebSpective's Content Distribution provides automated content replication, distribution and synchronization, from a staging server out to administrator-designated servers across the LAN or WAN. A content replication and distribution job is defined once, and then automatically executed on either a scheduled basis or as changes in content occur, saving administrators valuable time and ensuring reliable content updates.

To avoid errors, WebSpective delivers content updates to the servers, but does not make those updates "live" until a minimum number of servers have accepted the update (as determined by the administrator). Once a minimum number of servers have accepted the update, WebSpective informs the Equalizer to direct new users to the new content. Servers that for some reason could not accept the content update will be automatically updated at such time as they are able. Users are never directed to old content, because the servers that have not been updated are automatically removed from the load balancing rotation, and are only returned to the rotation when their updates are complete.

Solution Requirements - "The solution should also help manage the multiple servers through some type of content verification to ensure that a server isn't using older HTML code. If the server is using older code, there should be some automatic mechanism to update the older server with the new code."

WebSpective's Content Distribution ensures that there are never two versions of HTML or application code accessible to users at the same time. WebSpective's integration with Equalizer means that when an update takes place, any server that cannot be updated (for reasons such as memory faults, or being temporarily off-line) is taken out of the traffic rotation. WebSpective will periodically attempt to update that server with any pending updates, and once all the HTML code or application code is current, WebSpective will communicate its availability back to the Equalizer.

Pricing for WebSpective Software, Inc.'s Content Distribution 3.0 starts at $3,000 per server.
