(1) Per-phone and system prices are based on: the same model call controller(s) used in the testing; voicemail and directory; half IP soft-phone stations and half IP hard phones; T1 trunks; and all of the management applications used in the evaluation. The IP hard phones are mid-range models: All support an extra switch port, at least 10 buttons and a LCD display. See exceptions for Vertical below (3).
(2) In the Avaya configuration tested and in the systems priced, half of the IP hard phones are powered by Avaya P333 L2 switches, and in-line power-insertion units power half. Both are 802.3af-compliant.
(3) Vertical does not now support a soft phone. So in lieu of soft phones in the pricing, $100 analog phones were used to approximate a typical per-soft-phone-license cost. Vertical also does not support an integral user directory, as do the other systems tested, and currently supports just one IP hard-phone model, which customers acquire directly from Polycom.
