We tested the Morae platform on a private Windows network with approximately 35 workstations and an equal amount of servers. We installed the recorder on three workstations with distinctly different CPU speeds (Pentium III 1GHz to Pentium 4 2.6GHz), available memory (192M to 512M bytes), and screen resolutions (1024-by-768 to 1600-by-1200) to explore their impact on recording. We used three models of Logitech Web cameras for data collection. We tested with five individuals at different times on these workstations.
The management workstation running on a Dell Dimension 8250 with a 2.4-GHz processor and 512M bytes of memory was used to observe usage sessions of both an ASP.NET based intranet application as well as standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office. After testing, clips were collected, analysis and report generation was performed on the management workstation.
