IE7, best browser?By Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 11:45 amDid someone say IE7 is the best web browser? Ha, just because Firefox has updated it's interface to look more Windows VISTA like...and to have many other "skins" to better fit the OS it may be running in doesn't mean it copied IE7.
Why did they move my home?By Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 11:44 amI like to maximize viewing space, I have a personal policy of never using the bookmark toolbar. However, in Firefox 3 beta 4 I seem to be forced to keep the bookmark toolbar open if I wish to have the home button visible. I have yet to find a way to move the button to the address toolbar, admittedly I haven't had too much time to try - but if it were straight forward I would have done it by now. That is my only beef, aside from that I'm loving it.
you move the home button theBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 12:17 pmyou move the home button the same way you move any other button in the toolbar. right click the toolbar, click customize and then drag it wherever you want. This function isnt new.

Ha! IE 7 has an awfulBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 11:05 amHa! IE 7 has an awful interface - mainly the menus. Mozilla changed the theme to go with current trends in software design. On the other hand almost EVERY new feature in IE7 was already in Firefox. Add to that the fact that IE7 doesn't come close to meeting web standards and is a slow beast, and you will see that IE is ahead because it is automatically installed through Windows update and downgrading to Vista.
Why doesn't Firefox have aBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 7:14 pmWhy doesn't Firefox have a zoom feature? I use it all the time in IE7 if I want to sit back and read an article or play a flash game in fullscreen. I constantly find myself switching over to IE7. Opera has a zoom feature as well.
it depends what de you meansBy Anonymous on March 21, 2008, 3:30 pmit depends what de you means by zoom ? just ue this extension : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6489 Yes, firefox have lot of extension !
I agree, the zoom feature isBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 8:35 pmI agree, the zoom feature is awesome and I switch over to IE quite a lot as well. Shame the Firefox beta doesn't support all my extensions otherwise I would have upgraded to F3beta a while ago for it's zoom feature.
1. You can zoom perfectlyBy Anonymous on March 19, 2008, 3:43 am1. You can zoom perfectly fine... 2. Create a boolean key in about:config with the name extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false to use extensions that do not officially support FF3. All my 20+ extensions work fine.
Possibly because the authorBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 10:31 amPossibly because the author ran it on Vista.

FireFox is great!By Anonymous on April 2, 2008, 10:34 pmAt work my computer only has ie6. I have been using FireFox 3 beta 4 since it was released and find it far superior to any other web browser I have ever used. I particularly like the visible drag and drop, awesome tabbed browsing and rich type ahead features.
IEBy HealthcareWorker on March 22, 2008, 4:37 pmI don't think anyone said IE is the "best" browser. He was just saying it is number one "most used" browser.
I won't loose my synchedBy Anonymous on March 21, 2008, 4:01 pmI won't loose my synched bookmarks if I download this beta, will I? If so, can someone tell me how I may save them prior to downloading the new version or is there a way for a neofyte to save firefox bookmarks independent of the web browser?
Speed is greatBy Anonymous on March 21, 2008, 6:01 amThe increase is speed and responsiveness is fantasic. Now just need foxmarks to release an updated plugin so I can get my syncd bookmarks back!
I am using Firefox 3.0 sinceBy Anonymous on March 19, 2008, 12:39 pmI am using Firefox 3.0 since beta 1 is launched. Simply amazing with its performance. No more a memory leak for which Firefox 2.0 was blamed for. Its more responsive and faster than IE7, Safari 3.1, and Opera 9.0 or 9.5 beta. I am using all the four browser with FF 3.0 beta 4 as default and main browser in AMD machine running Windows XP home. I surf along websites which uses lots of graphics and flash, not had any major problems. The extensibility in Firefox 3.0 is more when comparing to FF 2.0 because new code and graphics. The memory recovery when closing a tab is better than all the other browsers, I verified this statusbarEX extension. People may ask about the risk of crashing as using a beta version. I forget that I am using a beta version, because it crashed rarely. All the crashes happened with is due to use of incompatible extensions which I am using with nightly tester tools extension. Most of the extensions are getting gradually compatible with Firefox 3.0, few like Tab Mix plus, Wizz RSS reader are not yet compatible. You name a feature that you want in Firefox 3.0, it is available with an extension. Like mouse gestures, thumbnail view, Speed dial, Rewind, FastForward,Snap back, automatic reload, etc..... If you don`t want to use full version, Firefox 3.0 beta 4 portable is around which you install in your PC folder you want http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/test Full version in http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html Enjoy the rebirth of internet and its applications with firefox 3.0.
Looks good but I still wantBy Anonymous on March 19, 2008, 5:15 amLooks good but I still want to see... A toolbar button to PURGE cookies. Even though I do like the site specific permission settings, they are just too deep. I like to cookie purge after a trip to the bank, myfacespacebook, gmail, hotmail, and pretty much any other site that records session info I don't want the site or other sites to know about. But going into the menu all the time is annoying and closing the browser down completely isn't practical either. It's my #1 for a browser feature. tabbed dowload window... I mocked it up - http://tinyurl.com/2qknnh http://preview.tinyurl.com/2qknnh (The preview tinyurl is a much needed feature that I'm so glad they implemented - yay!)
Go to Edit, Preferences, andBy Anonymous on March 19, 2008, 4:27 pmGo to Edit, Preferences, and then click on the Privacy Tab. Under where it says Private Data, uncheck the option "Ask me before clearing private data". Click Settings. Leave all options unchecked except for Cookies. Click OK. Now, when using Firefox, at anytime you can use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+F8 to clear private data, in your case only cookies.
firefoxBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 10:19 pmIE was always pants. always one nerd who claims IE is better than Firefox because he uses it though.. lol ... computer geeks are often too readable.
How it's been runningBy Anonymous on March 18, 2008, 6:11 pmI have to say that beta 4 has been running javascript appallingly slowly, and just taking up more processor power in general. I'm not too much of a fan of the new bookmark manager. Nevertheless, top notch.
