This computer opensBy Anonymous on June 19, 2008, 10:29 pmThis computer opens possibilites for the human race that will never be capabile in our own heads. What a magnificent tool! This computer can test theories that have plauged the highest scientists for centuries. Maybe explaining anything from simple to very complex paradoxes.
RE: The world's fastest supercomputerBy Anonymous on June 19, 2008, 2:01 pmWith a computer this powerful, would it be possible to model the world's weather so that we could get accurate predictions?
supercomputerBy clarkntl on November 13, 2009, 4:31 amThe best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common Network as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

Accurate Weather PredictionBy Anonymous on September 17, 2008, 8:39 amSupercomputing provided weather modeling in the '80s with the CDC Cyber 205, providing predictions for the US prior to the weather happening for the first time with systems installed on the east & west coasts.

weather modelingBy Anonymous on September 16, 2008, 6:26 pmMost likely not. Think of the weather itself as a large analog computer, whose input is the weather NOW and whose output is MORE WEATHER LATER. Now, how will you model this very large analog computer with a digital one? answer, by dividing the analog reality into a lot of small pieces of various sorts and properties. I think if you proceed in this manner, actually sit down and try it, you will rapidly come to the conclusion that truly "accurate" weather forecasting is unlikely in the forseeable future...
World's Fastest SupercomputerBy Anonymous on June 24, 2008, 8:37 amOur star, the Sol, torches Earth in about 8 billion years. Start modeling all the known regular and dark matter objects in our visible universe and compute probabilities for habitable planets and SAFE minimum energy trajectories to them so our little species can survive the demise of Sol. Estimate paths and lengths based on various speeds like .01*c, .5*c, .8*c, c, and 1.5c (in case we figure out higher dimensional travel - good luck LHC!). The bigger problem, of course, is to find a way to store the data so that future technologies can read it, if the media also survives as long as the species on Earth.
