Good idea but...By Anonymous on April 14, 2009, 10:32 amThis article is great for my self-esteem: I only got 3. Unfortunately I am not celebrating my youth: the quizz is heavily slanted towards network specifics. Those who concentrated on databases, software development and systems analysis will come out looking like babes in the wood even if they have 30 yeas of solid experience. I suggest you change the title of the article to "Are you a network geezer?"
Answer 2 is 21By Anonymous on April 14, 2009, 9:48 amI know why you do the 6+5+4+3+2+1 and it is easier to just express it as the equation for any, N, as [ N*(N-1) ] / 2 = Answer I don't know why you get 15 though. It shows 21on the screen so I don't know where you get 15 from.
whippersnappersBy Anonymous on April 13, 2009, 8:58 pmThere was some mighty new stuff in this list here pup... whadya mean 56K dialup, Netware, ATM, ISDN,... Don'tcha member backup data transfer over async 103 modems when the synchronous 4-wire copper was down, 2780/3780 RJE ? ( "Geezerness" is on board here!) Even 200MC terminal servers came with that newfangled ethernet thang (and not the 3Mb/s version in the early DEC/Intel/Xerox drafts), Pathworks too. Gotta run, the tape just finished punching and I gotta drive it over to the ASR33 at the other site.
Answer 2 is 21By Anonymous on April 10, 2009, 2:40 pmYou have the correct method (6+5+4+3+2+1)=21. I do not know where you saw 15 since when I viewed it the slide said 21 and the (7*6)/2=21 method.

Genuine GeezerBy Anonymous on April 13, 2009, 9:31 amBell 212A modem bank. 300/1200 baud, The standard that is still listed in the tech specs of most modems. Terminal Servers, Pathworks, and RSTS/E.
ISDNBy Anonymous on April 10, 2009, 12:52 pmWhile you mention the frequently used "I still don't know" expansion ofthe scronym, you didn't mention the more appropriate one: Interfaces Subscribers Don't Need. ISDN, a technology I spent years on, was a technology looking for a place to happen. Today we continue to see vendors trying to push out technologies that are interesting but have no particular place in the marketplace.

Is this geezer going mad?By Anonymous on April 8, 2009, 10:58 amI admit to being an old geezer, but I don't think I've totally lost all my marbles. Could somebody please explain exactly why the answer to question 2 is 15? I know that maths has changed a bit since I was at school, but 6+5+4+3+2+1 doesn't equal 15 in my book. Neither does 7(7-1)/2.
