OWA becomes WebApp in Exchange 2010

What's in a name? Mostly, market positioning. In his Secrets of Exchange 2010 blog, Rand Morimoto writes, "It came as a surprise to many of us on the early adopter program with Microsoft when, on one of the very last builds of Exchange 2010, all of a sudden Outlook Web Access was renamed Outlook Web App. It is the same OWA for web mail as we’ve used for years. Why the different name? Because Microsoft is branding all of their Web applications as Web Apps." But the app has been updated in several ways, including supporting more browsers than just Internet Explorer.

  • Microsoft to release six patches, three critical, on Nov. 10 Submitted by Microsoft Subnet on Thu, 11/05/2009

    Microsoft plans to release six patches that address 15 vulnerabilities next week for its regularly scheduled Patch Tuesday, three of which are labeled critical and three, important. These patches fix holes in XP, Vista, Windows Server 2008 (all editions except R2), most recent versions of Office for both Macs and Windows.

    Windows 7: Installed on my Dell X1...Finally by Ron Barrett

    Way back in August I blogged about installing Windows 7 on my Dell X1. Well the long overdue task is now complete. I have to say that the inital results are pretty impresive. The installation took under 30 minutes for Windows 7 Ultimate. After the full installation was completed, I shutdwon the laptop and powered it up. From the time I hit the button until I recieved a login prompt took exactlly 1 min. 23 seconds. Not bad for 1.1GHz Celeron proccesor. Not to mention that is just about 30...
