Description: Back in the day, I remembered seeing some of those "personalized books" that you could buy for your child that included their name, perhaps a hometown and some other personal data, and they'd get the book. It was kind of lame, but then again, I didn't have children back then.

Now that I have a 3-year-old daughter who is obsessed with Dora the Explorer, I was thrilled to try out the Shutterfly version of the personalized book, which includes the title "Dora and My Rescue Adventure." All you have to do is upload a child's photo, hometown and birthday, and Shutterfly creates the book, prints it and mails it out. Then, on every page, your child's photo appears along with Dora and you have a personalized book that your child can call her (or his) very own.

The process of uploading doesn't take that long, you just have to be careful in choosing the right photo (for best results, they should be looking at the camera and it needs to be somewhat high resolution), and then also make sure that the other information is input correctly. The uploading process takes about 10 minutes, and the book was delivered in about a week or so.

My daughter loved her book, and it's now a part of the nightly reading rotation.
