Network World Fusion, 12/31/04

I'm posting this entry around 3pm, Pacific Time, New Year's Eve. It's already next year in parts of the world. Is your internet ready for next year? Dave Aitel, a rather cheeky network security researcher, suggest "may next year's worms be more interesting than last year's worms." I have to say I do agree that it's probably wise to assume that we security issues we see in the coming year are not going to generate significantly less excitement than we've seen so far. Many things are making it better (XP SP2, products like Bugscan, some of the anti-spam legislation) but there's no sound reason to assume the hackers are prepared to cut us some slack ;-)
