A startup that is trying to become a big upstart, Kubi Software, on Monday released the beta of its Kubi Server, the IT companion to its client software.
The slick little Kubi client plugs into Outlook and Notes software and creates a collaboration environment within those familiar e-mail interfaces. The one thing missing, of course, was a way for IT to manage those clients.
The Kubi Server runs on an Exchange or Domino server and provides backup capabilities for Kubi spaces, where files are stored; centrally managed access controls; the ability to terminate Kubi spaces; and integration with the Exchange and Domino directories.
The Kubi client debuted in April to rave reviews, now the server is a signal to IT that Kubi is ready to get serious about becoming an enterprise platform.
