IP PBXs are starting to rule the land.
An In-Stat report says that they already outsell TDM PBXs if you measure by how many end-user licenses are sold with the systems, and within four years, more than 90% of PBX sales will be for VoIP.
Which isn't to say that TDM PBXs are passe. Far from it. There are lots of installed TDM phone switches that were bought in 1999 to stave off Y2K problems that have a lot of life left in them. With the addition of IP gateways, they and the phones they support, will be around for a long time.
The report backs up anecdotal evidence that businesses are embracing VoIP for its integration with video and data as well as its support for dual-mode cellular/Wi-Fi phones that can save businesses money.
