Axis network camera provides two-way audio

Axis Communications today launched a network camera that includes high-resolution video and two-way audio over an IP network. The Axis 211A network camera supports surveillance and remote monitoring applications that require the ability to see and hear events, as well as communicate with people on the other side of the camera, in real-time. The camera is targeted at security applications where companies want to secure offices, stores, and locations like schools, warehouses, campuses or prisons, Axis said.
The 211A includes a built-in microphone that can also be connected to external speakers. The camera supports simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams to help optimize image quality and bandwidth efficiency, Axis says. Built-in support for Power over Ethernet lets power, video and audio to be delivered through the same network cable.
The camera works with both indoor and outdoor lighting, with a varifocal DC-iris lense and progressive scan CCD image sensor, and it supports up to 30 frames per second at all resolutions, Axis says. Video motion detection, pre- and post-alarm buffers, a multitude of notification options and inputs/outputs for external devices (door sensors, light sensors, etc.) are all included.
The camera will be available in February for $899. More information is available at the Axis Web site.
If you really have the money, you can use the camera inside your house and then yell at the dog when he gets on the furniture.
