Optoma Technology today said it was shipping its MovieTime digital DVD home theater projector, a combination built-in DVD player, projector and integrated speaker system. The device is now available through retail and online retailers for $1,499.
Features include a native 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, digital light processing technology from Texas Instruments, and HDTV compatibility, the company says. In addition to playing DVDs, the device can connect to other video sources for projection purposes, including video gaming consoles. The system includes optical audio output to deliver up to 7.1 channels of surround sound.
The projector provides 1,000 lumens of rightness, has a resolution up to 1,400 by 1,050 pixels, can produce an image of 36 up to 335 inches, and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio. The 7.8-pound device can shoot an image from 4.9 feet up to 32.8 feet away, the company says. More details are available at the Optoma Web site.
