Network World Fusion, 09/04/02

Sony recently announced two new digital photo printers, the DPP-EX5 and DPP-EX7, which use dye sublimation technology to create lab-quality prints in color, monochrome, sepia or paint tone.

SonyDPPEX5printer (7k image)The $200 DPP-EX5 measures 3.25- by 7.75- by 11-inches, and can be connected to a television for larger viewing or editing. The $450 DPP-EX7 includes a 3.8-inch color touch-screen LCD for viewing, editing and customizing pictures before printing, eliminating the need for a desktop PC. Both printers are PC and Macintosh compatible and include USB cables. Each printer has a slot for a Memory Stick, and the DPP-EX7 includes a Type II PC Card slot, which can take SmartMedia and Compact Flash cards (with a PC Card adapter).

For more information on the new printers, go to Sony's printer Web site.

I just bought the sony dpp-ex5 to go with my sony f707 and it works great. My camera takes pictures at 2560x1920 and the instructions for the printer say to make the picture 1644x2466 at 403dpi but you have to make the picture 1664x2496 to make it borderless using the pc. with a tv and memory card it is easy to make it borederless i was makeing the pictures 1612x2418 which is 403dpi times 6in. =2418 and the same with 4in=1612. then just put the memory card in the printer and hit print it somes out perfect.I am totaly happy with this printer WOW only 200 BUCKS~!
