Network World Fusion, 09/03/02

Executive Software has launched Undelete 3.0, the latest version of its file recovery utility. According to Executive, the software lets any computer user recover critical files or to permanently delete them.

The software continues to be able to recover deleted files from anywhere on the network, even files that bypass the user's "Recycle Bin." It also continues to include the Emergency Undelete feature, which lets users restore files that were deleted before Undelete was installed, and Undelete from Disk, which lets users restore deleted files directly from the disk.

The new version runs on Windows XP, Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems. New features include the ability to capture and display what user account was used to delete a file; enhanced search capabilities (such as searching for files by date created, date deleted, owner, etc.); SecureDelete, which overwrites files deleted from the Recovery Bin so they cannot be found or read. In addition, compressed files can now be recovered with Undelete directly from disk.

The software is available in server ($259.95), workstation ($50) and home ($29.95) versions. Go to the Executive Software Web site for more details.
