HP yesterday announced availability of new products, including the Compaq Evo D510 e-pc and Evo D310v desktop PC, the Compaq Evo thin clients T30 and T20 with the CE.net operating system, and four new flat-panel monitors.
The Evo D510 e-pc (pictured) starts at $699 and includes an Intel Celeron 1.8GHz processor, a 20G-byte hard drive, 128M bytes of DDR SDRAM and a 24x CD-ROM with the Windows XP Home operating system. Users can order preconfigured models or customize the computer, by choosing Intel Pentium 4 processors up to 2.6GHz, hard drives up to 80G bytes, up to 2G bytes of SDRAM, or by adding an 8x DVD-ROM and Windows XP Professional. Later this year, customers will be able to add a 16x CD-RW drive or combination DVD/CD-RW drive. The D510 shares a common image with other D510 models with the same chipset for easier IT management, HP says. The PC now has a tool-less entry design for quick access to internal parts for upgrade and repair.
The Compaq Evo D310v includes a microtower chassis (to save space), and includes an Intel Celeron 1.7GHz processor or Pentium 4 1.8GHz processor. Pricing starts at $469 for the D310v, HP says. It includes standard USB 2.0 ports in the front of the machine, and an optional CD-RW drive. Go to HP's Web site for more details on these new desktops.
The thin clients are small devices that connect to current or legacy networks, HP says. All data is stored on the server, so there are no local drives or moving parts. The new Evo T30 and T20 models include a Geode GX1 300MHz processor, up to 32M bytes of flash memory and up to 64M bytes of RAM. The T20 is legacy-free with four USB ports. The T30 has legacy support and also includes a PCMCIA slot. The thin clients start at $399, HP says. More information on the thin clients can be found at HP's thin client Web site.
The four new flat-panel monitors include the Compaq TFT1520, TFT1520m, TFT1720 and TFT1720m models. All of the monitors include the feature of viewing documents in portrait or landscape mode, and include icon-based, on-screen controls.
The 15-inch TFT1520 starts at $479 and is aimed at home office users. The TFT1520m, starting at $499, includes all the features of the TFT1520 but also includes HP's new PC CommStation multimedia module. The CommStation is a small unit that sits on the base of the monitor and includes two stereo speakers, integrated microphone and headphone jacks, USB port and dual-function headset that can be used with a phone or PC.
The 17-inch TFT1720 monitor starts at $719, and is geared at users with more demanding display needs, HP says. The TFT1720m is the same as the TFT1720 but with the PC CommStation, and starts at $749. The TFT1520 and TFT1720 are available now, and the two CommStation monitors will be available in early October. Go to HP's monitors Web site for more details.
